Eksperimentet

In 1952 the Danish government started an inhuman "experiment" to stabilize its protectorate, Greenland: A group of children from Greenland was separated from their parents, transferred to Denmark and raised in Danish families. Then the group was transferred back to its original homeland, where it was further trained to become Greenland's "elite" on account of its Danish background. Following the motto "one country – one nation – one language", a children's home was set up to teach the chosen ones Danish values. Louise Friedberg's stirring drama tells the story of this experiment from the perspective of the ambitious children's home director Rigmor Geertsen, who takes a long time to realize that her fosterlings are faced with an emotional breaking test that will cause the experiment to fail. Director Friedberg does without any major effects and rather concentrates on a gentle narrative and magnificent actors – first and foremost cinema star Ellen Hillingsø – to achieve an altogether striking effect on the audience. Morten Grundwald, famous as Benny from the Olsen Gang, also appears in a supporting role.
