Life. Such is the sentence pronounced against Leila Sten. But when the stern, close-lipped woman is surprizingly pardoned, she is everything but happy. And she doesn't really feel comfortable in her new home, either – a remote rectory in the middle of a picturesque lakeland. Here Leila is to lend an old, blind vicar a helping hand. Soon the dominant housekeeper has the decrepit vicar under her command and scares off the postman. But when the letters to Father Jacob stop being delivered, it is Leila who reveals an anguished soul – and her crime. Following his award-winning drama "Mother of Mine", director Klaus Härö has succeeded in creating a concentrated intimate play. Especially the performances by Kaarina Hazard, as the supposed criminal, and Heikki Nousiainen, as a weak-willed do-gooder, transform this two-man piece into a gripping, intense character study.
