Max Manus, who ekes out a living as a sailor and a globetrotter before World War Two, becomes one of Norway's most effective saboteurs after the invasion of his country by the German Wehrmacht in 1940. No wonder, then, that his name appears at the top of the German Abwehr's list of wanted persons. But even though Max is never caught, the war almost defeats him. Because the action he takes against the occupying forces leaves many of his friends and comrades dead, for which he blames himself. Only when he meets Tikken, a Norwegian woman who coordinated Norway's resistance from the British Embassy in Stockholm throughout the war, can Max Manus, by now an alcoholic, nervous wreck, save himself from self-destruction. A spectacular, internationally cast war and history drama after the autobiographical books by Max manus, that pays adequate dues to one of Norway's most spectacular members of the resistance.
