From the country of the caricature dispute comes a ‘mockumentary’, as has probably never existed before: “AFR” mounts newly shot scenes, authentic interviews with politicians and stock material to create a filmic caricature of a documentary about Danish minister-president Anders Fogh Rasmussen: in this film Rasmussen lives a double life and alongside his image as Mr. Clean he has a passionate homosexual relationship with a young left-wing activist. This gives a humanistic side to the otherwise conservative, aspiring politician. When “AFR” gives up this great love for the benefit of his political career, the rejected lover begins to hatch a plan to kill the Danish minister-president. As was to be expected, the film incited serious discussions in Denmark this spring as to the boundaries of manipulation by the media. Andres Veiel’s “Black Box BRD” held a distinct exemplary function for “AFR”.
