Filmforum Schleswig-Holstein, Germany 2006, 97 Min.
In the summer of 2004, 40-year-old Miriam Franz holidays in the north of Germany with her partner André, her son Niels and his 12-year-old friend Livia. Livia meets Bill (38) while sailing, and Miriam is concerned at the way their relationship appears to be developing. She feels responsible for the young girl and wants to intervene. But things get complicated when she falls in love with Bill herself and the two embark on a clandestine affair. Her relationship to Livia changes radically when Bill admits to being infatuated with her. Soon, Miriam is unable to distinguish between feelings of responsibility and feelings of jealousy. “Summer ’04”, says director Stefan Krohmer, “is a family film. It poses fundamental questions about family life and relationships.”
