Prag

When his father dies, Christoffer goes to Prague with his wife Maja to bring back the remains. In the Czech capital, he encounters a world straight out of a Kafka novel. Christoffer sets off on the journey with little emotion, having been completely out of touch ever since his father left the family 25 years ago to start a new life in Prague. But when he gets there, he discovers the skeleton in his father’s cupboard – and the debris of his own marriage which is falling apart. Together with Maja, he takes one last desperate stance to save a lost love. Following on from “Kira” and “Nordkraft”, Ole Christian Madsen once again shows his skills as one of Scandinavia’s most talented directors. With its intense atmosphere and exquisite visual composition. “Prague” grips the audience from the very first minute – and doesn’t let go. Thematically and visually, this film is redolent of Ingmar Bergman’s masterpieces. Excellent performances from Mads Mikkelsen (“Open Hearts”, “Casino Royale”) and Stine Stengade (“Kira”).
