Nobody left as great a mark on European auteur films as Sweden’s Ingmar Bergman (1918 – 2007). Countless documentaries and books – including his own autobiography “Laterna Magica” – have illuminated the director’s personal motives and artistic approach. Now his work diaries have been published in German for the first time. Publisher and translator Renate Bleibtreu will present the book. In an exchange of reading and discussion with Kristina Jaspers, a curator at the Deutsche Kinemathek in Berlin, Bleibtreu will use Bergman’s 1957 film “Wild Strawberries” to talk about the director’s methods of working, providing a glimpse into this unique artist’s life situation before and during the film’s production.
