Homage, Denmark 2006, 103 Min., dan. OV, engl. st
Charlotte, bored to death in her relationship with her long-time boyfriend Kristian, flees the shared apartment one day. The owner of a flourishing beauty clinic, she finds a small apartment in an anonymous high-rise building. Veronica, a pre-op trans woman, also lives in the building. Charlotte's pushiness initially alienates Veronica, but it is her new neighbour, of all people, who saves Veronica when she attempts suicide. They start getting together more and more often. They watch American soaps together and are surprised by the emotions they evoke, including for each other. The film is shot in Dogma style, without artificial light and with a nimble hand-held camera that gives the unequal characters room to move during their emotional journeys of discovery. In the directness of Trine Dyrholm's performance, the audience experiences up close how a woman gives free rein to her desires – and exuberantly transforms a small living room into a disco.
