The approx. 40-year-old Clara lives with her mother and niece in a secluded cabin in the jungle of Costa Rica. Since birth, Clara has suffered from a painful curvature of the spine. Her mother, a devoutly religious woman, does not want to have it operated on. She prefers to maintain the myth that Clara has healing powers because she met the Virgin Mary – a myth that is also a source of income. The film cautiously enters the strangely enchanted world into which Clara has withdrawn because she was never allowed to grow up. The camera takes on Clara's outsider point of view of the beauty of nature as Clara begins to explore her surroundings and, ever more often, her own body. Clara wants to kiss a man the same way her niece does. The Costa Rican-Swedish director Nathalie Álvarez Mesén accompanies the gradual sexual awakening of a woman who is slowly becoming aware of her own desires. A woman who will strike out for freedom idiosyncratically and without the need for words. A single one of her determined glances says it all.
