Filmforum, Germany 2019, 6 Min., no dialogue
What is melancholy? A moment of self-reflection or a dangerous state of mind? The Flensburg theatre professional Elisabeth Bohde sits on a stool eight times almost motionless for an hour each time, in the pose from Albrecht Dürer's engraving, “Melencolia”. The accelerated playback of the scenes shifts the movement of the temporal levels and allows room for reflection.
