Vitello

Children´s and Youth Films, Denmark 2018, 72 Min., dan. OV, engl. st, ger. Voice Over, 5 years and older

Vitello is not exactly the poster child for good behaviour. He’s always cooking up something and even his friends sometimes balk at his crazy ideas. Not to mention his mother, obsessed with spaghetti, who has given up all hope that her beloved will ever be a well-behaved young boy. And where is his father? Vitello would like to know, but his mother won’t reveal more than that the absentee dad is an Italian rapscallion. So the young boy tries to solve the problem in his own special Vitello way. He creates a fantasy of his father, draws a picture of him in his head, and even looks for a new father. But in the end, it’s only God who can help. The film is a charming and ironic animated funfest with serious undertones, based on the much-loved “Vitello” picture books by Kim Fupz Aakeson and Niels Bo Bojesen.
