The party that Miku and his big brother organize in the family home gets somewhat out of hand, to put it mildly. As punishment, the introverted 17-year-old must spend the summer with his parents in their holiday cottage in the country. There, Miku meets the self confident nonconformist Elias. They are immediately drawn to each other. Together, they spend their time escaping their families, who are well occupied with their own problems; the two boys explore the lake, smoke, and drink beer. Bit by bit, Elias’ offensive manner leads Miku to confront his repressed homosexuality. With a fine sense of timing and mood, Nils-Erik Ekblom has succeeded in making a sensitive and warm-hearted film about growing up that tackles the subject of sexuality pari passu with problems like disorientation, the pressure to conform, and difficult parental relationships.
