Danish writer Christian Kampmann was murdered on September 12, 1988. The perpetrator was Kampmann’s long-time lover, psychologist and writer Jens Michael Schau. Schau was arrested immediately after the crime and sentenced to ten years in prison, which he served in a psychiatric facility. Now, 27 years later, he’s a free man who has served his sentence. But Schau is still plagued by guilt every day. He leaves his apartment only when necessary, to avoid provoking anyone. A play about the story is being staged and, at the same time, Jonas Poher Rasmussen seeks out the murderer for this film. Schau opens up slowly at first. He talks about coming out, his life and his open relationship with Kampmann, which was increasingly shaped by jealousy until it came to its brutal end.
