Uli and Nora are bound by a deep love. But Uli continually avoids the decision to fully commit to the relationship. He is passionate about his job as a tour guide in Hamburg and loves his freedom. Then one day, he has a stroke and is taken to the hospital. In his temporarily crippled state, he is dependent on Nora’s help. While Nora is in Uli’s apartment collecting some of his things to take to the hospital, the phone rings. At the other end is a woman’s voice, appearing just as surprised as Nora, who is so shocked, she hangs up abruptly. But she can’t get the intimate tone of the stranger’s voice out of her head. The film is based on the Siegfried Lenz novel “Der Verlust”.
