The blended Heller family consists of Jens, Eva and their three children. They move to a suburban backwater, where they share a dilapidated, semi-detached house with the textbook Trimmborn family. To welcome them, their charming new neighbours lay out the lay of the land. Carpooling is mandatory, both to the office and, for mom, to school. And the little ones will need expensive extra tutoring in order to grow up with the proper orientation toward achievement. For the chilled-out Hellers, it’s a horror scenario. But Eva wants to be a part of it all and follows her ambition, demanding a new car. Even three-year-old Felix gets tutoring. The family’s exertions lead to absurd situations and put their relationship to the test. The more the Hellers conform, the unhappier they become. After a momentous unforeseen incident at work, Jens finally loses his cool.
