Something just isn’t right this summer. The temperature has been in the upper thirties for weeks, the power keeps cutting out and the dogs are restless. Meanwhile, Danny has plenty of problems of his own. He is too shy to confess his crush on the alluring Rie and too scared to protect his little brother William from school bullies. One afternoon, everything changes. A new species of flesh-eating predators emerges from the sea and goes on a breakneck rampage, attacking anything with a pulse in the previously tranquil suburb. At the very last minute, Danny and William manage to barricade themselves in their basement. The brothers are now trapped together in the dark without food or water while screams from outside come closer to their hiding place and monsters upstairs go on a frenzy through the house looking for something or someone to eat.
