Children´s and Youth Films, Denmark 2013, 96 Min., 8 years and older
Karl and his mother relocate to Copenhagen from a small town in the west of the country. But no sooner have they moved in than the 12-year-old is surfing the Internet for a train ticket back home. The new neighbourhood, Nørrebro, is a melting pot of nationalities, his new school is an urban nightmare and Karl’s regional dialect makes him feel like a stranger in a strange land himself. However, soon he meets Sawsan, a confident girl from a Turkish family. She has her own problem – she wants to compete on a reality singing show, but her family forbids it. As it turns out, Karl knows how to programme a good beat and they hatch a plan to help Sawsan get what she wants. The top secret mission begins. The film is based on the children’s book of the same name by Gitte Løkkegaard (2009)
