Lore

Lore

Filmforum, Germany / Australia / Great Britain 2012, 100 Min.

Southern Germany in the spring of 1945. Lore's parents - high-ranking National Socialists - are arrested, leaving the 14-year-old and her four younger siblings behind. Left to their own devices, the children must make their way to their grandmother, who lives on a hallig in the high North of Germany. Mostly on foot, they head out across the occupation zones and inhospitable post-war landscapes. They have no papers, little money, and only a few valuables which they trade for food and shelter. Soon their reserves are exhausted. Lore faces hunger, cold and the surprizing allure of a Jewish refugee with defiance and a Nazi view of the world that is unwilling to tolerate any cracks.
