Cecilie

Cecilie

Retrospective, Denmark 2006, 93 Min.

Snow falling lightly on the corpse of a woman ... Cecilie and her husband Mads have just moved to the small town of Svendborg on the island of Fünen. After a long leave of absence, the 33-year-old wants to return to her profession as teacher. She seems to succeed - until nightmares and visions of a crying girl increasingly tear at her nerves. One night she witnesses a rape of which any indication has vanished by the next morning, and Mads has her committed to psychiatric care. But is she really sick or crazy? “Cecilie” is a psychological thriller full of suspense and supernatural surprises. After a script by Nikolaj Arcel (“A Royal Affair”), director Hans Fabian Wullenweber succeeds in having a repressed and long snowed-over crime brought to the light of day through the subconscious of his disturbed protagonist.
