Aliens in Lapland? The Swedish-American b-movie, shot in English in the Lapp community of Kiruna (near Abisko, Björkliden and Torneträsk), is reminiscent of the Jack Arnold science fiction classic "It Came from Outer Space" (1953). After the North Pole had already been the backdrop for an alien invasion in Christian Nyby's "The Thing from Another World" (1951), TV director Virgil W. Vogel followed it up with a thematically related production - only this time filmed on location. "Terror in the Midnight Sun" (as was the film's working title) featured Swedish actors alongside their flown-in American colleagues. The strange plot built around a spaceship and a large, furry monster (played by the journalist Lars Åhrén from Gothenburg) is not rendered less strange by the audio track, for instance when Åke Grönberg meets an old friend but, due to difficulties in English pronunciation, greets him with "Who are you?" rather than "How are you?".
