Competition Documentaries, Lithuania 2010, 60 Min., English subtitles
This essayistic film by Lithuanian director Kristina Inciuraite is an artistic wrestling match of good and evil on a sports level. Seven women from seven cities in Lithuania, doing seven different sports, speak - under "competitive circumstances" - about wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy and gluttony. Kristina Inciuraite was inspired by Kurt Weill's "The Seven Deadly Sins", a satirical ballet chanté, set in the global economic crisis, which he composed for the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées while exiled in Paris. Berthold Brecht wrote the libretto and later changed the title to "The Seven Deadly Sins of the Petty Bourgeoisie". Kristina Inciuraite would like to see her work similarly embedded in the context of the current socio-economic crisis.
