Kuku: mina jään ellu (Kuku ja Külavanem )

In the end it seems as though Arvo Kukumägi is digging his own grave. Which in fact he almost did, because Arvo Kukumägi is a heavy alcoholic. But then he actually succeeds in getting a new film role: in Katrin Laur's feature film "The Graveyard Keeper’s Daughter" (see page XX), about the dire consequences of alcoholism. Arvo Kukumägi used to be one of Estonia's most productive and popular film stars. Since his debut in Peter Simm's "Tätoveering" (1977), in which he starred as an adolescent rebel, he has participated in more than 40 productions. Until alcohol put an end to that. "Kuku - I Will Survive" is an unrelenting portrait of the actor, who was born in 1958. After a heavy breakdown and a stay in hospital he intends to stay dry. At first he succeeds, and he even manages to publish a biography, but then his relapses increase in quantity, and Arvo Kukumägi risks losing his girlfriend, his friendships, his health and even his life.
