Svenska flickor i ParisVerlockung/Eine Schwedin in Paris / The Flamboyant Sex

Retrospective, Sweden 1961, 78 Min., German subtitles, FSK 18

Barbara and Lena share a humble room in a run-down quarter of Paris. Barbara works as nude model in the art academy to earn a living. When she gets involved with a random acquaintance, she is left with love bites, disappointment and loneliness. Lena earns her living as a babysitter. Because she accidentally breaks a vase, her wages are withheld from her. When Lena tells the mother to her face that her only purpose is to enable the mother's nightly meetings with her lover, she is sacked. Marianne, the third Swedish girl, has an idea. She and her boyfriend are moving to a farm, so Lena can take over her job as a billsticker. Peter Weiss saw "The Flamboyant Sex" as "an attempt at earning a little money with filmmaking". The experimental filmmaker and committed author would later distance himself from the final cut and the "scandalous working conditions in some parts of the film's production". "The film is full of authenticity. The producers later replaced that by other, half-pornographic scenes."
