Retrospective, Finland 1970, 88 Min.
Finnish film producer Partti has made a reputation abroad as a porn filmmaker. He returns to his homeland and moves in with his old friends Liisa and Jussi. After a hearty meal with plenty to drink, Jussi goes to work the next morning and Partti immediately takes on the role of the husband in Liisa's bed. When Partti tries to shoot cheap porn movies in Finland, he realizes that it is difficult to find willing actors. Further complications arise from his relationship with Saara, an extravagant biology teacher. When Partti is to be charged with the seduction of minors at his film shoot, he leaves the country. Jörn Donner, director and lead actor, intended "Portraits of Women" to be a satirical depiction of the porn industry, also as "a parody of my own biography". The reaction by Finnish censors was very tolerant: They merely demanded that the film be cut by 70 seconds.
