Venom

"Isn't it phantastic," asks home movie enthusiast Per, "to show the sexual act on film?" So the hash-smoking provocateur keeps filming. Even when he and his girlfriend Susanne dally in the dunes, he shoots explicit images that he later shows to Susanne's mother ... The original version of the film included very short explicit scenes that were painted over with large white crosses in the cinema version. Nevertheless the debate over this film, conceived as a polemical warning against demoralization, drug abuse and hedonism, did not quieten down. Ironically, "Gift" provided unintended arguments for the liberalization of pornography, the legalization of which ensued in Denmark in 1969. Torn apart by the Danish press when it was released, the film is now considered an overlooked masterpiece of a time when Denmark was developing into the world's most liberal society. – Before the presentation, the "white-cross scenes" will be presented uncensored by Jack Stevenson.
