Män som simmar

When TV journalist Dylan Williams leaves his home in Wales to follow the love of his life to Stockholm, he initially has difficulties connecting with the Swedish locals. His language coach advises him to join a club as the most basic measure to become a part of Swedish society. Dylan takes her word for it and joins the "Stockholm Arts Swim Gents", Sweden's only male synchronized swimming team. It is a group of teachers, purchasing agents, registrars and train drivers who meet once a week to escape from the monotony of everyday life and the responsibilities for their families. What begins as a hobby ends with a participation in the unofficial synchronized swimming world championship in Milan. Dylan Williams' autobiographical documentary is a wonderfully amusing and surprizingly bizarre portrait of an actually existing swimming team that already provided the foil for the cinema success "The Swimsuit Issue". Beyond its exceptional story, "Men Who Swim" is also a clever analysis of modern Swedish society.
