Kristófer, from Iceland, must cope with his own personal financial crisis: after the former seaman has spent some time in jail for smuggling alcohol, he jobs as a night watchman. At home he has a wife, two kids and a mountain of debt waiting for him. When they receive an eviction notice to clear the apartment, Kristófer sees no other possibility than to sign on again and make big bucks. Together with his old mates, he ships to Rotterdam aboard a container ship. However, not only does the ship get out of control, but Kristófer's haul also leads to heavy turbulences. Oskar Jonasson has directed an fast-paced mixture of action film, drama and comedy after a script by the famous Icelandic crime author Arnaldur Indridason. Its dry humour is as impressive as the stoic performance by Baltasar Kormákur, who is also a known director (e.g. "101 Reykjavik", NFL 2000, and "A Little Trip to Heaven", NFL 2006).
