Special, Norway 2008, 83 Min., English subtitles
During the Second World War, Vera, a Norwegian nurse, meets a Soviet prisoner of war whom she falls in love with. After the war is over, she is employed as a translator by the Norwegian embassy in Moscow. There she continues her passionate love affair with Volodchik. Such intimate relationships between Russians and embassy employees are strictly prohibited, and when the Russian secret service finds out about Vera's love affair, she becomes subject to blackmail. helplessly exposed to KGB pressure, she agrees to be recruited as an agent. For the next 30 years, Vera lives a double life – as a loyal Norwegian citizen and as a Soviet spy, committing treason to her country for the sake of her love of a man. Based on the fate of the Norwegian spy Gunvor Galtung Haavik, director Knut Erik Jensen has created an artful cinematic construction at the centre of which Elen Dorrit Petersen convincingly embodies a woman who becomes guilty on account of the most innocent of motives.
