When Elmar Szücs became a father, he began to fear that this was all he had achieved so far. And most of his friends were in a similar situation: they were all aroung thirty years old, still in the middle of their university eductaion, or just on the verge of beginning a new one. Together with his three closest friends from school, the directorembarks on a quest for the unifying generation spirit of his generation. How did they grow up, how were they educated? What intentions did their parents have, what were the ideals of their teachers? And why did everything come differently? They attempt to answer these questions on a trip to Amrum, the island they associate with their childhood. One answer at least is clear: they all belong to the "generation undecided", who try to keep all their options open, not prepared to commit themselves, in fear of missing an alternative. They keep waiting for the moment at which real life will begin – and are in the middle of it all the while.
