Soul Kitchen

Bar-owner Zinos is out of luck: first his girlfriend Nadine moves to Shanghai for a new job, then he suffers a slipped disc. And when he hires the eccentric top chef Shayn, even his last faithful regular customers stay away. And as if that were not enough, his petty criminal brother Illias shows up and asks for help. While Zinos ponders how to get rid of the place to follow Nadine to China, music and an offbeat menu attract a growing, chic audience. The "Soul Kichen" is rocking and booming like never before. But then events get out of control ... Director Fatih Akin: "The plot could be set anywhere. That's why I like to call "Soul Kitchen" a "Heimatfilm" (lit: homeplace film) – home as in where your friends and your family are, where trust, love and loyality go without saying. And a place that is worthwhile to protect in a world that is growing increasingly unpredictable."
