25-year old Sebastian has always had a strong connection to his mother, but has hardly ever been able to connect to anyone else. Sebastian Dean is an autist and also suffers from epilepsy. He cannot speak, sings fantasy songs and children's songs and perceives colours, objects and especially time a lot more intensely than the people around him. When Alexander, a 21-year old social servant, comes into the family, he and Sebastian go through incredible pains to get to know one another and begin to communicate. But Sebastian harbours unforeseen talents: by coincidence his mother discovers that he can read and write – and even converse with her in a very demanding and poetic manner. The film demonstrates how fatal it is to put people into categories and how important integration is for every human being.
