This is something Ingmar Bergman fans have been waiting for for decades: the Swedish film historian Stig Börkman and master director Martin Scorsese have sighted all of the private film recordings made during the shooting of Ingmar Bergman's cinema films. The material has been restored and then mounted by Björkman into this wonderful homage. "Images from the Playground" shows Bergman and his team behind the camera, talking privately, joking around, and, of course, working, rehearsing and discussing intensely. The documentary film accompanies Bergman's career chronologically. The most important main actresses have been dedicated individual chapters: Harriet Andersson, with whom Bergman shot "Summer with Monika", Bibi Andersson in "The Seventh Seal" and Liv Ullmann, who became Bergman's preferred actress with her role in "Persona".
