Heartbreak Hotel

They could not be any more different: lively gynaecologist Elisabeth and the unapproachable policewoman Gudrun. But they have one thing in common when they get into a tussle over an – admittedly not quite legal – parking space: both live apart from their husbands and both are having problems with their know-it-all grown-up children. When the two women face each other on the dance floor in “Heartbreak Hotel“, however, there is no stopping them. They set out to enter the better half of their lives with humour, self-irony and plenty of snappy comebacks. Colin Nutley, comedy expert and one of Sweden’s most successful directors has made a refreshingly vivacious and touchingly authentic fun cinema film about the lust for life. He wrote the script in a dialogue with his wife, actress Helena Bergström, who plays the part of Elisabeth in the film.
