The Morells and the Wagners live in a suburb of Hamburg, each of them average father-mother-son families, also at a second glance. The men have been friends for years; they work in the same company, selling Swedish prefabricated houses. Regular evenings of card-playing polish off the image of family order. What the parents do not know: their adolescent sons are in a desperate, brutal conflict. Robert, the younger and smaller of the two, is regularly mugged by Paul. One day the extent to which his sadistic torturer drives him into a corner causes him to shoot him in utter desperation. When the parents then bury the corpse of the neighbour’s son and set their minds to covering up the deed, it is the onset of a tragedy that could not be any more desperate or drastic. “The Other Boy” is a low budget arthouse film that centres entirely on the actors. Technique and organization are kept to a bare minimum. Andrea Sawatzki was awarded the prize for Best Actress for her performance in “The Other Boy” at the 2007 World Film Festival Montreal.
