“The Trash Cineastes” is a portrait of a small group of enthusiasts keen to preserve the much-maligned railway station cinemas of the 70s. Film club activists, videotheque owners, collectors and cineastes all have their say. While film censors – even thirty years later – seek to protect young people from the excesses of sex, crime and horror in European trash films, the main figures in this film defend the cultural potential that has been obscured by the triumph of Hollywood cinema.
