The 60th Nordische Filmtage Lübeck thank their partners and sponsors

Lübeck, Oct. 31, 2018. The 60th Nordische Filmtage Lübeck, showing 199 films on six days, through November 4, 2018 started yesterday. The NFL is the largest festival on the European continent devoted to films from the northern and Baltic countries, and northern Germany. The festival is presented by the city of Lübeck and supported financially by ministry of education, science, and culture of the state of Schleswig-Holstein, Creative Europe MEDIA and the POSSEHL foundation. The main sponsors are the Radisson Blu Senator Hotel Lübeck and the CineStar Group. The festival is also supported by STAWAG, partner of the Lübeck public utilities authority, LYNET, AVIS, SG MEDIENTECHNIK, avt plus media service, the Friends of the Nordic Film Days Lübeck, Tallink Silja, and CITTI-PARK. Femern A/S is once again a sponsor of the Nordische Filmtage Lübeck this year, boosting the festival’s coffers.

The festival prizes are endowed by broadcaster NDR and the Lübecker Nachrichten newspaper, who are also important media partners to the Film Days, as well as the Gemeinnützige Sparkassenstiftung (regional savings bank foundation) of Lübeck, the Lübeck-Lauenburg Protestant Lutheran Church District, Baltic Films, the Lübeck trade unions, the CineStar group, and the Radisson Blu Senator Hotel Lübeck. This year for the first time, the Friends of the Nordische Filmtage Lübeck will also be endowing a prize, to be given for the best narrative feature debut. Everyone casting a vote for the LN audience prize will be in the running for the top prize, provided by Tallink Silja. It is thanks to the partnership with the four cinemas, the CineStar Filmpalast Stadthalle, the Kolosseum, Kino Koki, and the CineStar Filmhaus that the festival is able to screen so many films.

The NFL received a special gift this year from Niederegger GmbH, Lübeck. The world-renowned marzipan manufacturer is a Lübeck institution that stands for the best in craftsmanship. This year, Niederegger has hand-crafted marzipan medallions with the logo of the 60th Nordische Filmtage Lübeck, which will be presented as souvenirs to, among others, the guests at the Prize Night Gala.

The vitality of the festival also owes much to its numerous projects –School cinema, which is supported by the Wessel foundation, or the 360° Fulldome cinema, made possible with the help of the Lübeck public utilities. The Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein Film Commission and the Filmwerkstatt Kiel are partners of the Filmforum section and the “Lübeck Meetings”, while the German Federation of Film Clubs for Children and Young People (BJF) and the Schleswig-Holstein student union and the state’s cultural foundation sponsor the project “Young Nordic Filmmakers”. The project “Young Festival Bloggers” is made possible with funds from the savings banks association. This year the festival has a special partnership with the embassies of the Baltic States, the Estonian Film Institute, the National Film Centre of Latvia, and the Lithuanian Film Centre, due to the centenary of the founding of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. We are also very grateful to the embassies of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland for their financial support.

Numerous additional companies and people have made the NFL possible with their services and financial contributions. A complete list of all our partners, sponsors and prize sponsors can be found here.

For the first time this year, the festival’s opening night film comes from the Baltic. The festival is proud to present the Estonian film “The Little Comrade”(Seltsimees laps, dir: Moonika Siimets) in Lübeck.
