Prominent NDR Film Prize Jury Comprises Florian Lukas, Maria Solrun and Anno Saul

Lübeck, 24.10.12 – The “NDR Film Prize” of Nordic Film Days Lübeck (31.10.-04.11.12) is endowed with 12,500 euros and has been awarded to “feature films of exceptional artistic quality” since 1990. At the 54. festival edition, the “NDR Film Prize” jury includes the actor Florian Lukas, known from films such as “Weissensee” and “Don – The King is back”. Nordic Film Days is showing his latest feature film “Into the White” as a “Special”. Another famous jury member is the Icelandic-born scriptwriter and director Maria Solrun, her Film “Jargo” was shown at the 2004 Berlinale, and in her homeland, she is an advisor to the Icelandic Film Centre. The jury also features the director and author Anno Saul, whose work includes feature films such as “The Door” (starring Mads Mikkelsen) and “Kebap Connection”. The jury is further supported by the journalist and author Dr. Volker Behrens, co-author of the book “Fatih Akin: Im Clinch. Die Geschichte meiner Filme” and the NDR television editor Sabine Holtgreve, responsible for the broadcasting company’s feature film production and previously head of the SWR series “Debüt im Dritten”.

15 current feature films from Scandinavia and the Baltic Region are competing for the “NDR Film Prize” at the 54. Nordic Film Days Lübeck. The jury decision will be presented on Saturday, 3. November 2012, within the framework of the Film Prize Night.

Further prizes in the festival’s feature film competition are the “Audience Prize of the Lübecker Nachrichten”, the “Baltic Film Prize” for an outstanding film from the Nordic countries, and the “Interfilm Church Prize”. The “Films for Young Viewers” section features the "Prize of the Children's Jury" and the “Children’s And Youth Film Prize”. The “Documentary Film Prize of the Lübeck Trade Unions” is awarded to a socially and politically committed film from the festival’s documentary programme, and the new “CineStar-Prize” goes to the best short film from the Filmforum section.
