CineStar increases its commitment at Nordic Film Days Lübeck and sponsors Filmforum Short Film Prize

Lübeck, 28. August 2012 – The CineStar group is one of the main sponsors at Nordic Film Days Lübeck, Europe’s most significant film festival for films from Scandinavia, the Baltic Region and Northern Germany. This year it also sponsors the award for best short film in the Filmforum section, the North German section at Nordic Film Days Lübeck. The CineStar Prize is endowed with 3,000 euros and is being presented for the first time in 2012. The CineStar group thus further broadens its long-standing commitment as partner and sponsor of the festival.

“We are very happy to be supporting a filmic genre for which public awareness must yet be strengthened. As a cinema proprietor situated in Northern Germany, we naturally also feel obliged to the Filmforum section and we embrace the fact that for a number of days, this festival makes Lübeck the cinematic capital of Germany,” says Oliver Fock, Managing Director at CineStar.

Doris Bandhold, Head of the Filmforum section, is very pleased about the new CineStar Prize and the broadened commitment by CineStar, which has supported the festival as a strong partner for more than twenty years: “We are particularly happy that CineStar is paying extra attention to the short film genre with its newly set up award. Such support of young talent is of notable significance as the short film genre marks the starting point for many successful directing careers.”

The CineStar Prize is awarded by a jury of three film experts and is presented together with the other awards at the Film Prize Night on 3. November 2012 at Theater Lübeck. This year’s film festival takes place from 31. October to 4. November 2012, with its main venues at CineStar Filmpalast Stadthalle and Kolosseum as well as featuring further screening venues for the Retrospective films.
