The non-profit foundation of the Lübeck savings bank “Gemeinnützige Stiftung Sparkasse zu Lübeck” is supporting the Nordic Film Days Lübeck for the first time this year. With a grant of 80,000 EUR the foundation has become the most important sponsor of the 48th edition of this renowned film festival. “I am particularly happy that we are able to support the Nordic Film Days Lübeck – with which I feel very close ties,” comments the chairwoman of the foundation’s board Antje Peters-Hirt. “For I believe that the Nordic Film Days Lübeck provide a successful example of the way to carry the name of Lübeck into the Nordic countries and at the same time to promote the development of culture in Lübeck and help us to meet with people from many different countries here in the Hanseatic city.”
“We are extremely pleased that this support gives us reliability in our planning and guarantees the high quality of this biggest annual international cultural event of our city,” says Cultural Senator Annette Borns. With the support of the Sparkasse Foundation, she adds, we can be sure that the prominent guests and latest film productions make the Nordic Film Days Lübeck into one of the most important platforms for international cultural exchange.
“The Nordic Film Days Lübeck are highly regarded in the Scandinavian and Baltic countries,” emphasizes festival head Linde Fröhlich. “With the grant of the Sparkasse Foundation we can continue in the future to fulfil the expectations of our friends and open a door to the German film market and the German public for the North.”
