During Sweden's main political forum, the annual Almedalen Week in Visby, Minister of Economic Affairs David Ehrling’s long-held dream of becoming prime minister seems within reach. Things begin to fall into place quickly after the sitting president suggests internally that Ehrling be the successor. And so, behind the scenes a race against time begins – right up to the press conference at which Ehrling is to be nominated. His opponents, as well as probing journalists, line up to find compromising material from his past. His wife, tired of the marriage and public life, is less than thrilled about his ambitions. Only Ehrling's assistant and press officer, who wants to climb the career ladder alongside him, really gets behind Ehrling and tries to erase the traces of the past and the dirt of the present.
