The setting is the cruise ships that take 36 hours to shuttle between Rotterdam and Hull, Kiel, and Oslo. Always in transit, and never really arriving. In voiceover, seafarers’ widows left on land tell of lives determined by water, and of longing and loss. Memorabilia collected at sea evinces stories of colonialism, love, and the oceans.
