Basically, Mart's been preparing his entire life for this moment – his college graduation. Nevertheless, he feels overwhelmed by all the decisions about his future that he now has to make. At least he's not alone – the singer Mel, whom he meets in a bar, feels the same. Director Michel Linzer has staged his protagonists' search for meaning as a modern musical.
