Retrospective, Germany / Norway 2012, 97 Min., norw., ger. OV, ger. st, FSK 12

For 20 years, Katrine has led a happy life with her family in Norway. She was born the daughter of a German soldier and a Norwegian woman in a home for Lebensborn – children considered “Aryan” enough for the Nazis to send them to Germany to be raised. After the war, Katrine grew up in an East German orphanage. Only after fleeing communist East Germany as an adult is she reunited with her birth mother. Now, a lawyer wants her to testify against the Norwegian state before the European Court of Justice in his case against the Nazi practice … “Two Lives” is a family drama with elements of a thriller that tells the tale of how the aftereffects of the Nazi regime, the division of Germany, and the Cold War strike a Norwegian family and rip open old wounds. The casting shines with Liv Ullmann and Juliane Köhler.
