Tomas Espedal is among the most celebrated writers in contemporary Norwegian literature. He has garnered an international reputation with novels such as “Biography. Forgetfulness” (1999) and the essay collection “Tramp: Or the Art of Living a Wild and Poetic Life” (2006). He also worked as a teacher; among his students at the Bergen Writing Academy at the end of the 1980s were Karl Ove Knausgård (see “The Other Munch”). In front of the camera, the storyteller becomes an entertainer. This film portrait covers Tomas Espedal as a professional writer at his desk at home in Bergen, and as an enthusiastic and jocular traveller on Gran Canaria and in Provence. But we also see his emotional side, in conversation with his extremely aged father, Eivind, who is battling health problems.
