Seven-year-old Esteban lives with his Turkish father on a remote farmstead in France. One day, he brings a trout home when he finds his father seized with convulsions in his bed. Like a fish, he gasps for air. In his helplessness, Esteban believes the only way for him to save his father is to save the fish and runs back to the river.
