Kaja and her sister Emilie are attending a summer camp run by Norway’s Labour Party on the island of Utøya. After an inconsequential argument, the two sisters split up, when suddenly shots ring out. An unknown person is killing the young people, who are now all in mortal danger. Amid the chaos, Kaja searches desperately for her sister. Erik Poppe deliberately chose to make his film about the July 22 attack entirely from the perspective of the victims. Its premiere at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival triggered fierce debate about whether it was proper to use cinematic storytelling methods to depict such a horrific event. Watching the film is an experience that leaves you speechless and one you will never forget. A stand-out in the lead role of Kaja is young talent Andrea Berntzen. Director Erik Poppe's documentary “Per Fugelli – I Die” is also showing at this year’s NFL.
