She may be unremarkable looking, but forty-something Halla is a shrewd environmental activist, who aims to single-handedly prevent economic interests from destroying the Earth, or at least her little corner of it. She doesn’t shy from anything, not even sabotage, for her guerrilla activities. When she cuts off the electricity to the new aluminium factory and the project's investors threaten to jump ship, the government gets very nervous. But then in the middle of her fight, Halla gets very unexpected news. Erlingsson’s imaginative new comedy proves that the very serious subject of environmental destruction can be handled with a light touch without making it farcical. The film has a dazzling performance by Halldóra Geirhardsdóttir in the lead, and an excellent supporting cast of subtly comedic actors. The film received four prizes at its world premiere at the Cannes Semaine de la Critique.
