It's nearly impossible for actresses over 40 to find attractive roles. At the start of the film, Ditte reads for the role of an aging prostitute. At some point, she's fed up with the sexism in the industry and disguises herself as Ditlev. As a man, she not only becomes very successful within a short time, but experiences the social behaviour of the men around her from a different perspective – by and large not a pretty sight. Besides, Ditlev has sex with half the film crew. But her unexpected success threatens to break Ditte's friendship with Louise apart. This film is based on the series by the same name that features the Danish comedy duo of Ditte Hansen and Louise Mieritz. They (and a number of other Danish actors) perform here under their own names. “Ditte and Louise” is one of the funniest and most precise satires on the film industry in ages.
