Film installation, multi-media reportage
While Germany is in the grip of the diesel emissions scandal, other abuses by the auto industry fade into the background. Directors Linná Kviske and Jana Sepehr look to the southern regions of the globe, and present an in-depth report, using Ghana as an example, on how scrap car batteries are recycled. Workers risk their lives for a highly toxic raw material – lead – only to export it back into the global economy, from which they themselves draw no benefit.
