Series, Iceland 2017, 6 x 45 Min., iceland. OV, engl. st
Based on the eponymous novels, all of Iceland wonders which public figure is behind the pseudonym Stella Blómkvist. Stella is sexy, smart, funny, and equipped with a variety of unconventional investigative methods for delving deep into the dealings of Iceland’s ramshackle political machine. Her first case is a murder in the corner office, when the ambitious consultant to the prime minister is found dead virtually on the seat of government, as it were. Small-time drug dealer Sæmi is found next to the corpse and is arrested. Stella, who was the accused’s former defence attorney, undertakes an investigation on her own. The received facts and the final version of events offered up by the police appear too simple to her. During her investigation, she is ruthless and clever, and she is a person with very flexible moral standards who navigates her own way through the world.
